John Daly, has spent all of his life living in the east of Glasgow, having been born and brought up in Dennistoun. He attended Glasgow University, where he was a keen debater, which gave him his first interest in politics.
After graduating he spent three decades working solely in Glasgow schools as a primary teacher, ultimately spending the latter years as a Head Teacher with a school with a mainstream primary and a Language and Communication Resource (a co- located unit for children on the autistic spectrum). He took early retirement in 2020, to devote more time to caring for his elderly mother although education remains a passion for John, and he donates his time freely as a trustee of a special need school in the city.
When the opportunity to stand for Glasgow City Council arose, John, saw an opportunity to bring his a lifetime of experience in education to the City Chambers to help inform, better, many of the decisions made at council level.
Since May 2022, John has served as Councillor for Baillieston Ward in the East End of Glasgow. He has campaigned on a number of local issues, and been a key voice in the City Chambers alongside Cllr Kerr I standing up against the SNP Administration.
