On Sunday, 6th of August, we had the honour of hosting the Rt Hon Penny Mordaunt MP, the Leader of the House of Commons, at our first annual dinner since the pandemic and our thanks goes out to all who attended making it a night to remember!
The event, which took place in the heart of Glasgow was a huge success, with ninety guests joining us from across Scotland. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to meet and mingle with our fellow activists, campaigners, donors, and elected representatives who share our vision of a strong and prosperous United Kingdom. We were also delighted to welcome the Chair and Deputy Chair of the Scottish Conservatives, Craig Hoy MSP. and Pam Gosal MSP., and of course, we were proud to have our own local representatives from Glasgow with us: Cllr. Thomas Kerr and Cllr. John Daley, Annie Wells MSP. and Sandesh Gulhane MSP.
The highlight of the evening was the speech by Penny Mordaunt, who inspired us with her passion and enthusiasm for our party and our country. She spoke about the importance of our family of nations, and how we can work together to protect our union from nationalists by embracing arguments of the heart as well as arguments of the head. She also praised our efforts in Glasgow, where we have been challenging Labour and fighting the SNP at every level. She urged us to keep up the momentum and support our candidate in the upcoming Rutherglen and Hamilton West by-election, Cllr Thomas Kerr, where we have a chance to make history and elect the first Conservative MP in the constituencies history.
We would like to reiterate our thanks to everyone who attended the event and made it such a memorable occasion. We are grateful for your support and generosity, which enable us to continue our work as a party. We hope you enjoyed the evening as much as we did, and we look forward to seeing you again soon. If you couldn’t make it this year, don’t worry - we will be back next year with another fantastic annual dinner that you won’t want to miss! As a party, we depend on people like you to spread our message, raise funds, deliver leaflets, and ultimately get our candidates elected across the UK, but especially here in Glasgow, where we have a vital role to play in defending our Union and advancing our Conservative cause.
