Local Conservatives have selected Mark Russell to be their candidate in the Hillhead ward, for the council election to be held on 5th May. The Hillhead ward takes in the communities of: Hillhead, North Kelvinside and Kelvingrove.
Mark Russell is an IT Project Manager and has a strong background in technology having worked on projects in the public and private sector. He has also worked in the third sector with a number of charities concerning the education of young people.
Mark said “I would wish to contribute to the recovery from this pandemic. From a local government perspective there needs to be a focus on delivering value for money on local services. Many people will struggle and need to make sure services that people depend on are not impacted. I feel that I have a strong background in decision making having been involved in multi-million pound projects and have built strong stakeholder relationships over a number of years. I have also worked in public and third sector and been a member of community councils so have experience in this area.
I wish to represent the voice of those people who do not feel they have a voice in politics, particularly those who represent the middle ground and who are responsible individuals and who feel that they are not represented by the current government in Scotland.”
